First Night Raleigh Features Noted NC Authors at “Raleigh Authors Talk Back” Event
NC Authors Jon Batson, Jaki Shelton Green, Amanda Lamb, and Alice Osborn read selections of their work from 6:30-10:00pm in The Urban Design Center Downtown Raleigh, Dec 31st for First Night Raleigh.
Raleigh, NC, December 31, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Make plans to join Artsplosure and thousands of your friends and neighbors at the 19th annual First Night ® Raleigh celebration on New Year's Eve. Family friendly performances and activities take place from 2:00pm to Midnight in locations throughout downtown Raleigh.
Kicking off the “Raleigh Authors Talk Back” event at 6:30pm is award winning 2009 Piedmont Laureate, Poet Jaki Shelton Green. She will be followed by Amanda Lamb, professional television journalist, author and mother at 7:15pm. Award winning published poet, creative writing instructor, seminarist and author Alice Osborn will speak from 8:15pm-9:00pm. Jon Batson, award winning author and lyricist is the wrap-up speaker from 9:00pm-10:00pm. All will be reading from their selected works.
The informal four-author sessions will be held at The Urban Design Center (Site 18) 133 Fayetteville Street downtown Raleigh. The venue can accommodate 50 attendees. Admission buttons are available in advance for $9.00 at Harris Teeter, Rite Aid, Café Helios, Quail Ridge Books & Music and other locations. Day-of buttons can be purchased on site, $12 for adults and $10 for children 6-12 at the Button Sales Tents located on Bicentennial Plaza, in several locations along Fayetteville Street, and at City Plaza near the Main Stage.
