Colombia - New Vacation Destination for Escaped to Latin America

Cusco, Peru, January 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Escaped to Peru operated its first vacation to Colombia last month in conjunction with its local service partners. The tour company is taking advantage of an extensive government advertising campaign which claims: “the only risk is wanting to stay.¨

Once known for being the center of South America´s cocaine cartels, Colombia´s tarnished reputation is slowly being eroded as massive government programs and clean up operations have helped make the country that much safer for travelers. In fact, travel in Colombia is as safe as anywhere else in Latin America as long as you follow advice given by your tour company.

There will always be areas of Colombia, and many other Latin American countries, that remain off limits to international tourism. Bogota is the standard entry and exit point for Colombia and among other attractions has a well-known gold museum.
