Colombia - New Vacation Destination for Escaped to Latin America
Cusco, Peru, January 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Escaped to Peru operated its first vacation to Colombia last month in conjunction with its local service partners. The tour company is taking advantage of an extensive government advertising campaign which claims: “the only risk is wanting to stay.¨
Once known for being the center of South America´s cocaine cartels, Colombia´s tarnished reputation is slowly being eroded as massive government programs and clean up operations have helped make the country that much safer for travelers. In fact, travel in Colombia is as safe as anywhere else in Latin America as long as you follow advice given by your tour company.
Managing Director Gary Sargent says, “We are very excited about offering Colombia as a new vacation destination. I have just come back from meeting with our service partners and hotels in Bogota and Cartagena and I am very impressed by the quality and service on offer. Vacations taken in this lovely country are an enjoyable mix of culture, activity and relaxation, at a very reasonable price.”
There will always be areas of Colombia, and many other Latin American countries, that remain off limits to international tourism. Most of these areas are border regions in the middle of the Amazon jungle and are not easily accessible to tourists anyway. The main destinations for vacations in Colombia are safe and travel is relatively easy given the correct organization. Bogota is the standard entry and exit point for Colombia and among other attractions has a well-known gold museum. Add to this the famous “Coffee Region”, the cities of Medellin, Cali and the historic jewel of the Caribbean coast, Cartagena, and you will have a vacation to remember.
