Musical Tribute to Neil Finn and Crowded House Presented by Bandhouse Gigs
Internationally acclaimed songwriter and musician Neil Finn to be celebrated in song at tribute concert staged by Bandhouse Gigs at the Barns at Wolf Trap in Virginia.
Bethesda, MD, January 06, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Neil Finn and his band Crowded House will be honored in an all-star musical tribute organized by Bethesda, MD-based concert producers Bandhouse Gigs. Featuring an array of the Washington, DC, area’s best known musicians, the tribute will be held at the Barns at Wolf Trap in Vienna, VA, on February 13, 2010.
Widely recognized for his inspired songs and moving performances, New Zealand-native Neil Finn first rose to prominence in the 1980s as a member of the popular New Wave band Split Enz, in which he performed with his brother, Tim. By 1985 Neil had founded the rock group Crowded House, whose first eponymous album catapulted him to international stardom on the strength of the single, “Don’t Dream It’s Over.” Subsequent albums and world tours followed, solidifying Neil’s standing as a creative force with such self-penned hits as “Something So Strong,” “Weather with You” and “Fall at Your Feet.” Tim later joined the band and continuing success resulted in Queen Elizabeth II bestowing the Order of the British Empire on both Neil and Tim in 1993 for their contributions to the music of New Zealand. Neil as well has recorded several albums both solo and with his brother, and has collaborated with a range of notable artists, from The Dixie Chicks to Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam.
“Neil Finn’s body of work over the past 25 years represents the best in popular music,” says Ronnie Newmyer, creative director of Bandhouse Gigs. “We’re excited to have the opportunity to bring his music to the Washington area and to a whole new generation of listeners.”

Founded in 2004 by noted musicians and producers Ronnie Newmyer, Chuck Sullivan, David Sless and Danny Schwarz, Bandhouse Gigs is a not-for-profit, volunteer organization that brings together the Washington area’s most talented artists – Grammy winners, gold record sellers, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees – to pay tribute to the era’s most iconic musicians. Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, The Band, Warren Zevon, Nick Lowe and Allen Toussaint are just some of the songwriters that have been celebrated in concert, their songs interpreted in surprising and innovative but always inspired ways. At times, more than 60 musicians, engineers, producers and technicians have gathered in a single show, entertaining concertgoers by the thousands at such stellar venues as the Music Center at Strathmore in Bethesda, MD, and the Barns at Wolf Trap. As well, the group mounts benefits for ailing DC musicians and supports grassroots charities such as Hungry for Music, working to bring positive musical and creative experiences to underprivileged children.
