Tutors International, Providers of Private Tutors for Home Schooling, Supports Government Registration and Offers Help to Homeschooling Families
Tutors International has spoken out in support of government plans to register home schooling families in the UK, and outlines plans to help families with the registration process.
Oxford, United Kingdom, January 07, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Adam Caller, founder of Tutors International, a leading provider of full-time private tutors for home schooling families, has spoken out in support of government plans to reform home schooling in the UK with a compulsory registration process. Tutors International has also announced plans to help home schooling families who are nervous of the registration process, should it be made compulsory. "We provide many home schooling families with full-time private tutors, and have seen a wide spectrum of reasons behind their decision to home school," said Adam. "These can range from a severe school phobia through to a desire to have a more flexible lifestyle that can accommodate travel. It saddens me that some home schooling families are feeling threatened by the government's recent proposals to register home schooled children, when the government is trying to protect a fundamental human right to education."
"Article 26 of the United Nation's Universal Declaration of Human Rights states: "Everyone has the right to education" and this fundamental right needs to be protected, especially in the case of home schooled children. Checks need to be in place to ensure that they are actually being educated adequately," Adam explained. "In a highly developed country like the UK, it's the role of the government to ensure that no matter what the underlying reasons for home schooling may be, whether they are religious or philosophical, the child has been taught to read and write and allowed to acquire an understanding of the world in which they live."
"The registration process is not going to force home schooling families to have their child sit GCSE and A-level exams," Adam added. "I understand that many families feel threatened, but Tutors International is currently exploring how we could potentially help groups of home schooling families who don't employ full-time tutors to meet any registration requirement, should they feel the need for support. I also think the government should be consulting the families about what core education every child should receive, as very important decisions could come from that dialogue," Adam concluded.
