The Institute for Church Safety & Risk Management Appoints Insurance Executive to Advisory Board
The Institute for Church Safety and Risk Management, LLC (ICSARM) has announced that Scott R. Konrad has agreed to serve on the ICSARM Advisory Board effective immediately.
Tupelo, MS, January 08, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Scott is a senior vice president and Advocate Partner in the New York Corporate Solutions practice of Willis Group Holdings P.L.C., a leading global insurance brokerage and risk advisory firm. He joined Willis in 2003 with a legacy of broad claim management, sales leadership, and relationship management experience. He earned membership in Willis’ Exceptional Producers’ Council soon thereafter, recognizing achievement as one of the top revenue generators in North America, and led a dedicated New York sales team.
After entering the insurance industry in 1977 as a claims adjuster with Liberty Mutual, Scott served lengthy tenures as a vice president with global brokers Johnson & Higgins, for which he spearheaded a national cultural institutions practice, and Marsh & McLennan. In 1996, Scott joined the Church Insurance Companies, the Episcopal Church’s denominational insurance facility, as territorial officer for the Northeastern U.S. He established the companies' service center in Greater Hartford and managed sales and service to some 2,000 institutional customers throughout 11 states.
Having built a concentration of prominent international, national, and regional secular and religious not-for-profit clients, Scott serves as a national resource to Willis offices and their clients in the nonprofit sector. He is a contributor to the Episcopal Church’s Manual of Business Methods in Church Affairs and teaches a risk management course that he developed at the request of NeighborWorks® America, a federally-funded nationwide nonprofit community development corporation.
Scott has been active as a member of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM) and several of its state chapters; with the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA); and has served in leadership and board capacities with the Episcopal Church, Boys & Girls Clubs, and other nonprofit organizations.
“Scott’s diverse background in the insurance arena, with specific experience in church insurance makes him a needed addition to our already excellent team of Advisory Board members”, states Michael Boutot, founder and Executive Director of ICSARM. “His passion for what he does is evidenced by Scott’s involvement with the non-profit sector” adds Boutot, “we are thrilled to have him as part of our team and look forward to his leadership and expertise.”
“ICSARM fills a tremendous need within the faith community and I’m excited to commit my experience and talents to help promote risk management awareness, acumen, and discipline within our houses of Christian worship,” Scott commented upon his appointment. “These are the very places that people look to for sanctuary and reassurance, and they are being increasingly held to the same standards as for-profit businesses.”
Scott earned his B.A. in International Relations & Economics from Colgate University and also received his Certification in Risk Management for Churches & Schools from the University of Cambridge (UK).
Scott is a communicant in good standing at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Essex, CT, where he has served in leadership functions spanning stewardship, diocesan relations, clergy searches, and parish governance. He and his family reside in Essex, CT.
