Fairfax, VA, January 10, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Fairfax Arts Coalition for Education Schedules Fine Arts Support Rally
The Fairfax Arts Coalition for Education, or FACE, will hold a rally in support of Fine Arts programs in Fairfax County Public Schools on Tuesday, January 12th. Parents, students, teachers, school administrators and others interested in the arts are encouraged to attend this event. FACE Boosters will release compelling information by data analyst and music advocate, John Benham.
Unless Fairfax County Public Schools receives a large increase in funding from the Board of Supervisors, the educational system that we have enjoyed and that has brought many of us to the county will no longer exist. We are facing the worst cuts to our programs that have occurred in recent memory.
Although Superintendent Jack Dale has stated he would prefer to not cut Fairfax County Public Schools Elementary Band and String programs, it will be up the School Board based on the funds transferred from the Board of Supervisors to ultimately make that decision. Cuts to elementary band and strings would consequently destroy band and strings on all levels in Fairfax County.
The public is invited to show their support for keeping these programs in place by attending the rally at George Mason University Center for the Arts on Tuesday, January 12th. The rally will begin at 7:00 p.m. Parking is Free in Lot K which is across the pond from the Center for the Arts. Hourly Fee parking is also available in the Parking Deck next to the Center.
