Felicite.com Awarded Patent for Gift Registry with Partial Purchase Feature
Stamford, CT, October 19, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Felicite.com, Inc. was awarded patent 7,013,292 by the United States Patent Office for its gift registry system with a Partial Purchase feature.
The Partial Purchase feature allows gift givers to make a partial contribution towards any gift. The system automatically updates and keeps track of contributions and generates a purchase order when the whole gift is paid for. This way the cost of expensive gifts can be easily shared.
Online gift registries are the latest shopping trend. Today they are not just limited to weddings, but also used for other events such as baby showers, graduation, birthdays, Christmas and house warming parties. Gift registries make shopping more convenient by eliminating duplicate and unwanted gifts and saving time and money for gift givers.
Registering expensive gifts is the biggest complaint customers have about conventional gift. Cheaper gifts are quickly bought but expensive gifts remain on the list un-purchased. The reason is the average gift giver spends $50 to $100, making it difficult for any individual gift giver to afford gifts that cost more than $100.
"Many gifts might be perfect from the registrant's point of view, but are just too expensive for any one person to buy. For example, a new sofa for the newly wed, a laptop for the recent graduate; or a scholarship fund for the new baby," says Peter DiSalvo, VP of Marketing at Felicite.com. "The Partial Purchase feature allows people to easily share the cost of these expensive gifts," adds DiSalvo.
Felicite.com's system also accommodates cash gifts. So new parents can set up a scholarship fund for a new baby or brides can set up a honeymoon fund or a donation to charity.
"Partial Purchase is important in capturing cash gifts since each gift giver may want to contribute a different amount," explains Jose Martinez, VP of Technology.
Felicite.com is currently in licensing discussions with major retailers. The Partial Purchase feature would give many merchants better access to the gift market by making gifts more affordable.
"Wedding gifts alone is worth $30 billion dollar a year. We believe the Partial Purchase feature would allow many merchants to more efficiently tap this market," says Peter DiSalvo. "A cash gift registry using the Partial Purchase feature would also work well for an on-line payment processor or a travel agency," adds DiSalvo.
