DC Family Helped by Local Baltimore Charity to be Featured on "the Oprah Winfrey Show" Thursday, Jan. 14

In 2003, after being diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of six, Eric Ware underwent chemo and radiation treatments at Children’s National Medical Center. He and his family participated in many Casey Cares programs to keep their spirts up. Unfortunately, Eric lost his battle, and Aaron struggled to go on. His wise pediatrician prescribed something unusual for Aaron. That story will be featured on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" this Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010.

Baltimore, MD, January 13, 2010 --(PR.com)-- "Oprah" Show Viewing Party Planned by Casey Cares at Ryleighs for Thursday, January 14th

Eric and Aaron Ware were twin brothers, when Eric tragically lost his battle with cancer in October 2006. During Eric’s three years of treatment, the Casey Cares Foundation, a charity that provides uplifting programs with a special touch to critically ill children and their families, offered support to the family with activities like a trip to Hershey Park, DC United, Redskins, and Nationals games, balloons on their birthdays, etc.

To help Aaron cope with his grief, his pediatrician suggested he concentrate on something he likes to do. Twelve year old Aaron started a baking company, "Doughjangles – Sweets by Aaron" last year. With his proceeds, his mother Angela says, he is "saving some, spending some, buying more ingredients, and donating to the charities that helped Eric when he was alive."

“I can’t even begin to tell you how important that $10 donation is to me,” said Casey Baynes, the Founder and Executive Director of Casey Cares, last January. “Most people focus on the impact that Casey Cares has on their families, but it’s incredible how much the families impact us as well.”

Aaron’s inspiring story is told on “The Oprah Winfrey Show”, Thursday, January 14th from 4:00 – 5:00pm EST. The Casey Cares Foundation, along with other families Casey Cares has helped, friends and supporters, are holding a Viewing Party at Ryleighs this Thursday, and from 3:30 – 7:00pm, the restaurant will serve specials and donate a portion of the proceeds to the Casey Cares Foundation.

Where: Ryleigh’s Oyster Bar, 36 E Cross Street, Federal Hill, MD 21230
When: Thursday, January 14th, from 4:00 – 5:00.

The Casey Cares Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides personalized, uplifting and fun-loving programs with a special touch to critically ill children and family members throughout the Mid-Atlantic States.
