Prestigious Local Award Boosts First-Time Author Marala Scott's Message to Prevent Domestic Violence and Child Abuse
One of Columbus' most popular radio stations honored the first-time author with inclusion into their elite circle of "Outstanding Women."
Columbus, OH, January 13, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Marala Scott's efforts in spreading the unique message of preventing domestic violence and child abuse has placed her among Sunny 95's "20 Outstanding Women You Should Know in Central Ohio." Ms. Scott, an author published by Seraph Books, LLC, has spent the past year sharing her experience with domestic violence for audiences across the nation, teaching individuals how to recognize the 'Indicators of an Abuser.’
94.7 WSNY-FM, informally known as “Sunny 95,” has named "Twenty Outstanding Women You Should Know" each year since 2008. The process of choosing these individuals begins after Columbus residents submit nominations honoring women for whom they have great respect. The management at WSNY then creates a committee, which must unanimously choose twenty finalists from the hundreds of nominees. After the group is selected, they are honored at a ceremony, one of which Ms. Scott attended this past Saturday.
This honor for Ms. Scott comes close at the heels of her being featured on Oprah.com, where the talk show host salutes her as an ‘Ambassador of Hope.’ Ms. Scott, however, doesn't view these breakthroughs as a victory for herself, but rather as a victory for her message.
The 'Indicators of an Abuser' is a list of behaviors intended to help individuals recognize patterns in others, or in themselves, which might indicate abusive tendencies in the future. Each of the 'Indicators' has roots in Ms. Scott's own experience with abuse, which she recounts in her multi-award-winning memoir, In Our House: Perception vs. Reality. Ms. Scott has spent the past year sharing her story and the 'Indicators' for colleges, companies, and interest groups across the country.
Ms. Scott is continuing her speaking tour into 2010. For additional information on Ms. Scott, the book, or having her share her unique message for your audiences, contact Walker Pfost or visit www.inourhousebook.com. In Our House: Perception vs. Reality is available at any bookseller nationwide.
