San Francisco Wine Association Announces New Leadership
New president will expand efforts toward brand building and market awareness
San Francisco, CA, January 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The San Francisco Wine Association (“SFWA”), an organization of 20 boutique, urban wineries, announced today that Rob Barnett, CEO & Founder of the popular business-to-consumer social wine site, “VinVillage.com”, and also the highly followed weekly talk-radio program “VinVillageRadio”, is its new President. Barnett succeeds John Tarabini, who co-founded SFWA with his wife Sharol.
“We began partnership discussions with SFWA shortly after its launch” stated Barnett. “From the onset, I really believed in the SFWA concept, the vision and the need for the association. I felt the Tarabini’s were right on target from the start.”
“John Tarabini and I worked closely together throughout 2009 to promote SFWA through VinVillage.com, its partners and affiliates, and then several months ago, John and I began to discuss a greater role for my involvement in the organization” said Barnett. “Given the reality of the economic landscape for premium wine brands in 2009, it is truly amazing how far John and Sharol took the organization in its first year,” Barnett added. “It is now my responsibility and great ambition to take it to the next level.”
“My goal is to continue building upon the strong foundation and the tremendous momentum of the SFWA, and to further increase the market awareness for our winery member’s boutique brands, which are among the most unique and sought after wines in the industry,” he stated.
John and Sharol Tarabini, with their Damian Rae Winery, will remain on as SFWA members and strong supporters of the association they founded.
