Why Is Your Screen Green? Greenscroll Just Teamed Up with Carbonfund.org.

Greenscroll and Carbonfund.org have decided to join forces in working together to make sure the power used to run the Internet is clean, green, and renewable.

Toronto, Canada, January 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Change the colour of your website to green with Greenscroll and Carbonfund.org

When Internet users logged in this morning, they may have noticed something different: their favorite online store, news website or Internet group just might have a new colour: green. This morning Greenscroll announced an exciting new partnership with Carbonfund.org, and it is going to make the Internet a greener place.

How, you ask? Servers are like cars. There are millions of cars on the road, pumping carbon dioxide into the air. We can see it with our own eyes - the grayish smoke coming out of the exhausts of these gasoline-hungry machines. Similarly, power-hungry servers which are letting you read this right now, are throwing out tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. The only difference is that we don't see the smoke coming out of this article. It happens somewhere hundreds of miles from where you are right now - at a coal-burning power plant pumping smoke into our environment to keep the Internet alive.

Greenscroll and Carbonfund.org have decided to join forces in working together to make sure the power used to run the Internet is clean, green, and renewable. Greenscroll is making our environment cleaner by pumping green energy into the grid using something called Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). RECs help to create green power by supporting sustainable energy projects, such as wind farms. That means a boost of green power to run the servers of the Internet we all rely on. If you want to learn more about RECs and the great projects helping to fuel the web with green energy, check out Greenscroll.org.

Carbonfund.org is helping Greenscroll to green the web by supplying the RECs. Like Greenscroll, Carbonfund.org is a non-profit organization that helps to make the world we live in cleaner, greener, and a better place. Finding a partner with shared values and goals was very important to Greenscroll; both companies work to fight climate change, not profit from it. Carbonfund.org is an organization already making a big difference through its existing partnerships with large organizations like Volkswagen, Motorola, Avis and Staples. Greenscroll is proud to be included in this list.

Why rely on dirty energy to run the Internet when there is an alternative? More members of the online community are taking a stand. It’s getting rid of an e-truck for an e-Prius. Thanks to the new partnership, the information superhighway is being powered with clean energy. Don’t be surprised if the websites you visit today look a little different and you feel a little different browsing them.

You just might be green scrolling.
