Boulder, CO, January 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Online fundraising software services provider, DoJiggy LLC, partners with Highmark Inc, an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, an association of independent Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans. Based in Pittsburgh, Highmark Inc. is one of Pennsylvania’s leading health insurers, serving 4.8 million people through the company’s health care business. Highmark will implement DoJiggy Pledge™ online software tools for the annual Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community events in 2010.
Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community is an annual event, underwritten by Highmark, in which more than 140 nonprofit organizations across Pennsylvania benefit from its proceeds. The event takes place in Erie, Pittsburgh, Bethlehem and Harrisburg, offering a venue, promotions, logistics and all other fundraising needs at no cost to the organizations that participate. Since its inception in 2003, the walk has raised more than $2 million for nonprofit organizations.
The 2009 Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community proved to be a great success attracting 12,500 walkers and raising $675,000 to benefit 115 organizations. 2010 is the first year that Highmark will offer the opportunity for donors to make online donations and expect to raise more money than ever before.
“We’re excited about the opportunity to partner with DoJiggy and hope that the organizations are able to raise more money, especially during this tough economic time,” said Charles Gladney, Director of Community Program Implementation, Highmark. “With this new software, walkers can create a personal webpage with a photograph and goal statement so they can share their story with more people. The software also provides us with tools to manage registration and communications to walkers, making hosting the event a much more seamless process.”
