NCBIO Re-Elects HPG Partner as Treasurer

Tim Gupton has been re-elected as treasurer of the NCBIO board of directors

Tim Gupton, partner and executive committee member of Hughes Pittman & Gupton, LLP (www.hpg.com), the largest CPA firm headquartered and staffed in the Research Triangle Park region of North Carolina, has been re-elected as treasurer of the NCBIO board of directors. Gupton is an NCBIO founding member and has served on the board, executive committee and as treasurer since the organization’s inception in 1994.

“Tim has been an extremely valuable member of our leadership team since NCBIO’s establishment,” says Sam Taylor, NCBIO president. “In addition to his service as our treasurer, Tim has provided insights and guidance on a host of issues, including proposed changes in state tax laws, capital formation policy and other matters directly affecting start-up life science companies.”

With more than 30 years of public accounting experience, Gupton has served as the start-up CFO for seven biopharmaceutical companies in the Research Triangle, and is a founder and general partner of Research Triangle Ventures, a venture capital firm focused on early stage investments. Currently, Gupton is a co-founder and CFO for Alphavax Inc., a vaccine company based on new genomic vector technology from the University of North Carolina, and Colucid Pharmaceuticals Inc., a pharmaceutical company developing migraine drugs licensed from Ely Lilly.
