Blazinstar Experiential Worked with Green and Blacks to Launch Art Barter at the Rag Factory
London, United Kingdom, January 16, 2010 --(PR.com)-- PHD Rocket worked with Blazinstar Experiential on behalf of Green and Blacks who sponsored the ArtBarter event that launched last night at the Rag Factory, off Brick Lane.
ArtBarter is an innovative way to auction pieces of artwork. Artwork is bartered for by individuals using any alternative means to money. The event opened to members of the public today and it is the only exhibition to promote such a form of exchange amongst a wide array of artists and the general public all at once.
The event being sponsored by Green & Black’s showcased a piece of ‘Chocol’art’ made by artist Sir Peter Blake. Blazinstar Experiential organised sponsorship by Green & Blacks and the large piece of artwork adorned the wall of the former studio of Tracey Emin and Gary Hume.
The ArtBarter has so far seen visitors offering use of their cars, holiday villas, homes and more unusual bids including ‘five hours of holistic massage’ all in exchange for the art, including the work of Tracey Emin and Gavin Turk.
The catch is that at Art Barter potential barterers do not know which artwork belongs to which artist, until after the show’s end. It creates a gamble for the public, with the idea that people value the art for what it really is, not for the name or price tag that may otherwise be attached.
Blazinstar worked closely with curator Lauren Jones, who said: “We want to make art available to a more diverse crowd, not just people with disposable income. ArtBarter is the perfect setting to make this happen, whilst also providing a fun way to get people involved with the arts.”
ArtBarter also supports the charity ‘Arts Against Knives.’
