Schapiro Global Inc. Today Announced a Plan for Renewed Symbols Across Multiple Trading Platforms

Leading the effort in an industry-wide transition to a new symbology system for identifying options contracts, Schapiro Global has made it a priority to upgrade its technology and educate its customers well in advance of the February 2010 deadline for all member firms to have the new symbology in place.

Hong Kong, Hong Kong S.A.R., January 19, 2010 --(PR.com)-- "As a firm that was built on the idea of bringing options trading to the average investor, we feel a special responsibility to be out in front when it comes to major changes" said Schapiro Global Technical Officer, Rebecca Chang. "But beyond that, we really saw the symbology transition as a great opportunity to make the trading experience even easier and more convenient for our trading partners."

The new, more descriptive symbol format will replace a nearly 25-year-old system of cryptic punctuation and letters that, though long accepted by traders, was unintuitive and often mystifying. The symbols sequences clearly describe the underlying commodities that they represent, expiration date and option type.

Schapiro Global has been gradually rolling out the new symbol structure across a number of its trading tools, displaying both the legacy symbols and their new counterparts alongside one another. When the switchover is complete, live traders will benefit from the move to a clearer means of identifying option contracts, the addition of several new sleek and easy-to-use features.

"By the time February 2010 rolls around and the new symbols are completely in place, our live trading partners will have seamlessly transitioned to the new structure," Chang explained.
