MicroPower Technologies, Creator of the World’s Most Power Efficient Wireless Camera, is Nominated for Two Prestigious Awards from the Telecom Council of Silicon Valley
MicroPower Technologies (www.micropowerapp.com) and their ultra power efficient wireless video technology were chosen by the 20+ global carrier members of the Telecom Council of Silicon Valley as having the most disruptive new technology for 2010 at the annual SPIFFY Awards today in Palo Alto, California.
San Diego, CA, January 19, 2010 --(PR.com)-- MicroPower Technologies, Inc., creator of the World’s most power efficient wireless camera, has been nominated for two prestigious 2010 SPIFFY awards from the Telecom Council of Silicon Valley's Service Provider Forum.
The Telecom Council of Silicon Valley's Service Provider Forum includes 20 global service providers such as AT&T, British Telecom, DoCoMo, France Telecom/Orange, Sprint, Swisscom, Verizon, and many other fixed and wireless carriers from Europe, Asia, and North and South America. SPIFFY nominees were selected from among 100 start-up companies who presented in Telecom Council meetings in 2009.
SPIFFY nominations indicate a startup has innovation, opportunity, and a quantifiable interest among members of the Telecom Council. Winners will be announced at the SPIFFY awards ceremony on February 25, 2010 in Palo Alto. MicroPower Technologies was nominated in two categories: The Edison Award for Most Innovative Start-Up and The San Andreas Award for Most Disruptive Technology.
Cameras where they need to be, not where they can be
"MicroPower Technologies’ breakthrough innovations in video and wireless power conservation are truly disruptive,” said Bob Ehlers, VP Sales / Biz Dev of MicroPower Technologies. “We are able to capture and transmit VGA resolution video at up to 30 frames per second, at distances of up to one mile using one twentieth the power input of competing technologies such as 802.11, Bluetoothor 802.16. Our technology will allow surveillance cameras with industry leading image fidelity and performance to be placed virtually anywhere with a small solar panel measuring less than 10 inches by 4 inches, running indefinitely with no maintenance required,” said Ehlers.
MicroPower intends to sell both fixed cameras for surveillance and wearable cameras that initially will be the size of a credit card, but will ultimately be the size of a miniature Bluetooth sized ear piece and capable of running for up to 10 hours (or one work shift) on a charge.
"We are honored to be nominated by telecom carriers and equipment manufacturers for a SPIFFY award," continued Ehlers. "We see that the market potential for a truly wireless, miniature video camera solution is huge and are pleased to see that the telecom market recognizes and values our technical achievement. We hope that this will lead to partnerships with both carriers and equipment manufacturers to deliver innovative new products and services based on our technology,” concluded Ehlers.
A String of Successes
At the end of last year MicroPower Technologies was one of only six companies out of 80 selected to participate in the EvoNexus high-tech incubator in San Diego. Now to be honored with a nomination for a SPIFFY award shows that the company is poised for continued success.
