D Scale Launches Modern Events
D SCALE, Dennis Duffy’s modern furniture store in Boston’s South End, announces that the store is launching MODERN EVENTS, a promotional channel whereby First Friday openings, artist receptions, charity benefits, corporate gatherings and design events can be hosted at D SCALE. D SCALE's award winning store design complemented with its modern and vintage furnishings makes it an ideal place for design related gatherings.
Boston, MA, January 20, 2010 --(PR.com)-- D SCALE, Dennis Duffy’s modern furniture store on Harrison Avenue in Boston’s South End, announces that the store is launching MODERN EVENTS, a promotional channel whereby First Friday openings, artist receptions, charity benefits, corporate gatherings and design events can be hosted at D SCALE with support from the company’s marketing resources. Since opening in 2007, the store has consistently hosted gatherings, but with their continued success came the need to separate the branding of the events from D SCALE’s core product which is the sale of chic, custom, modern and vintage furnishings and accessories.
“Our efforts to market D SCALE are growing on an international level in 2010 and we are pursuing increased online search ability and e-commerce for D SCALE’s furnishings and accessories. In so doing, we want D SCALE’s customers to clearly know the difference between the branding of the store’s events and that of the store’s furnishing lines,” notes store owner Dennis Duffy.
The design of the store, which has contributed greatly to the success of the events held there, features a Grotto Level and a Main Street Level with soaring 13’ high ceilings. Designed with the same precision and purity that is the hallmark of Dennis Duffy’s interior design work the store has received several awards including the International Interior Design Association's (IIDA) 2009 New England Interior Design Award for Best Retail Project and Home Accents Today's 50 Retail Stars for 2009, a National Award for The Best and The Brightest Retail Stores Sponsored by Americas Mart'Atlanta.
By promoting both D SCALE and MODERN EVENTS separately, the store is able to partner with other organizations in the planning of events and to effectively inform its clients of the store’s new lines of furnishings and accessories. “D SCALE is a wonderful resource for both designers and retail clients,” says Duffy. “We work with designers and their clients to fabricate pieces that meet their client’s desire for stylish, quality furnishings and that fall within their time and budget constraints. Being a designer myself, I am well aware of the challenges that arise during the design process from the initial search all the way through to final installation. For retail clients who are not working with an interior designer, D SCALE offers in-house design services to assist with size, color and appropriateness of each piece for its final destination.”
D SCALE’s design associates work closely with each client to streamline that process.
The first event to be promoted by MODERN EVENTS will be the First Friday in March, March 5, 2009, when the store hosts “BONSAI; LIVING SCULPTURE – ANCIENT AND MODERN.” Featured will be Bonsai West of Littleton, Massachusetts, owners of the most extensive collection of specimen Bonsai outside of Japan www.bonsaiwest.com. Complementing Bonsai West will be the works of artist and sculptor Jacob Kulin of Kulin Modern www.kulinmodern.com. Kulin’s work has been shown both locally and nationally and was recently featured on NECN’s New England Dream House. Following in April will be a book-signing event sponsored by Panache of Texas for their new hard cover coffee table book “Perspectives in Design.”
