Zack Noble of Noble Forge Contributes Work to the 31st Annual Contemporary Crafts Exhibition
The Mesa Contemporary Arts Center is holding its 31st annual contemporary crafts exhibition. This exhibition includes works completed in a variety of craft media, contributed from artists selected by guest juror Jane Sauer. The exhibition opens January 22nd and runs through March 14th of 2010 at Mesa Arts Center, One East Main Street, Mesa, Arizona 85211

The Mesa Contemporary Arts Center will be opening its 31st annual contemporary crafts exhibition on January 22nd, 2010. This exhibition highlights the finest in contemporary crafts from around the country and has become a benchmark of innovation and quality in the craft field. Artists included in the exhibition work in a variety of traditional craft media, including ceramics, metals, paper-making and book arts, glass, fibers, basketry, wood, and jewelry.
The exhibition was this year juried by guest juror Jane Sauer. Sauer is the owner of Jane Sauer Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico and has over 34 years of experience both as an artist and arts activist. Sauer is viewed as an expert in the field by the craft community. She has selected 52 works of art for this show, representing 42 artists from 18 different states.
Among the 42 artists included in this years exhibition is Zack Noble, a new exhibitor in the field of blacksmithing. Zack Noble, who owns and operates his forge in Bakersville, North Carolina and can be found at www.zacknoble.com, has been working in the area of artistic ironwork for more than twelve years. The work contributed to this exhibition, a sculptural piece entitled “Nodus #4”, is 37” x 24” x 24” and highlights the artists ability with traditional joinery in a modern style. Zack is most well known for his commission based architectural iron works and one-of-a-kind wrought tables, but has expanded his body of work to include more sculptural pieces in recent years.
The opening reception for the 31st annual contemporary crafts exhibition will be held on Friday, January 22nd, 2010 from 6-8 pm.
