Better Access to a New Year at The Guildford Institute

Thanks to a generous donation by comedian and author Ben Elton, the Guildford Institute has improved access to its courses, activities and events.

Guildford, United Kingdom, January 20, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Thanks to a generous donation from author and comedian Ben Elton, The Guildford Institute has a new Stannah stairlift. Apart from the Library, the Institute is located on the first and second floors of the Victorian building in Ward Street, and has therefore been unsuitable for people that would have difficulty with the stairs until now.

The Institute has an inspiring range of new courses, speakers and events for 2010. Highlights include a celebration of International Women’s Day, guided sculpture walks and a series of talks using the special collections from the archives of the Institute Library. They are also now booking an extensive list of courses from art history and bridge, to printmaking and creative writing.

Mary Elton, Ben’s mother and life member of the Institute will be officially opening the stairlift 12 January. The stairlift has been installed between the ground and first floors of the Library stairs. Please contact us if you would like to attend.

Quote from Ben Elton "I've heard a lot about the Guildford Institute from my Mum, and I know what good things to feed the body and the mind are to be found there..I'm glad that the stair lift will make accessible to more people the huge variety of talks and activities, and also what is considered by many people the best lunch in Guildford. All the best, and hold on tight!”
