Heartland Poker Tour’s Las Vegas Event Winner Kimbo Ung Intrigued About Real Deal Poker’s Fair Gaming Practice
Poker player and Las Vegas resident Kimbo Ung wins the $125,901 at the national touring series’ 2010 opening event at Red Rock Casino & Hotel. In an effort to find fair gaming practice within poker online, Ung and fellow main event player Colby McCormack discuss the newest and only fair gaming offered through Real Deal Poker.
Las Vegas, NV, January 19, 2010 --(PR.com)-- As the first stop of the Heartland Poker Tour’s sixth season, Red Rock Casino & Hotel hosted the seven-day tournament as over 500 participants played satellite and qualifying tournaments to reach the main event. Among the players in this tournament was Kimbo Ung, a Las Vegas cash game player who ironically almost didn’t enter the tournament. Also in the main event was Real Deal Poker’s advocate, Colby McCormack, also a Las Vegas resident who has been consistently playing poker at the casino and tournaments online.
As both players began the night at the same main event table, Ung played tight from the beginning. Although unfamiliar with each other at the start of the main event, both players quickly found common ground in their respect for each other’s game. “When the main event started, Colby was at the other end of my table and I noticed all of the press people surrounding him and taking photos throughout the night. I noticed the Real Deal [Poker] name on his clothes and I thought, ‘Who is this guy?’” said Ung.
Playing to the last table in his field at the main event, McCormack gracefully exited the tournament. “I had a great time playing at the Heartland Poker Tour tournament this weekend. The professionalism and the coordination of the entire tournament was impressive. What I like the most about this 17-destination tour is that its co-founders Greg Lang and Todd Anderson have created this series for the typical player with an average bank, but with extremely generous payouts,” says McCormack. “I was wishing Kimbo all the luck in the world for the rest of the tournament. I knew he was a strong player when we played each other at our main event table.”
As a full-time student, McCormack defines himself as a player who typically goes out three days a week to play a few hours each time. “I generally play cash games at the casino and will occasionally play tournaments online,” said McCormack. “I don’t play with the biggest bank roll, but I can consistently make a profit at a live table.” Ung finds himself more at the tables these days from the lack of job opportunities. He said, “There are no jobs out there right now, so I keep playing poker. Cash games at the casino can be up and down, so sometimes I play more tournaments. It depends on how my streak is going. I wasn’t even going to enter this tournament, but my wife urged me to enter the qualifier just to try.”
Passionate about poker, McCormack brings to light much of the discrepancies among online poker sites available today. “There’s a huge population of players today that don’t trust online poker sites primarily because many have experienced strange dealings and patterns during games that simply don’t make sense,” explains McCormack. “However, I believe that the entire industry is about to change. Before this tournament began, I learned about the Real Deal Poker platform. While poker sites currently operate using random number generators to deal its cards, Real Deal Poker will use Gioia Systems’ newly patented technology that automatically shuffles decks of cards while reading them and using a proprietary software to generate decks for play.”
McCormack continues, “On top of the automatic shuffler, Real Deal Poker is also implementing a full audit system that makes sure that all cards were dealt with the utmost honesty and integrity. When I heard of a company that was willing to provide this type of insight into their operations, I could see how Real Deal Poker will forever change the face of playing poker online.”
Ung, who does not play poker online said, “I don’t trust [online poker].” When informed about the Real Deal Poker technology and philosophy, Ung replied, “Really? That’s incredible. I’ve never heard of anything like that before. That’s going to be great. I’ll have to check it out for sure.”
With excitement, McCormack is always eager to advocate for Real Deal Poker and to share this unique and unprecedented gaming philosophy with fellow players like Ung. “When you have a company like Real Deal Poker provide the ultimate fair gaming practice to its players – and most importantly be able to prove this it’s fair – you are really gravitated towards supporting this effort which is why I’ve chosen to give Real Deal Poker my full support.”
As McCormack sported the Real Deal Poker apparel throughout the tournament, he was often approached by curious players who were not familiar with the new site that will launch this March. “Everyone that I’ve told about Real Deal Poker was really enthusiastic and excited at the idea and ultimately couldn’t wait for its live launch. I’ve spoken with Gioia Systems’ owner, Gene Gioia, the systems inventor, and I was thoroughly impressed by the innovation behind the automatic shuffler. As a veteran poker player himself, Gene explained why it was finally time to put away any uneasiness with playing poker online and that there was absolutely no reason why everyone didn’t deserve a fair and honest game—just as if they were playing at a live table.”
