Ohio Belegarth Acquires Gedden.org the Publicly Editable Sword Fighting Wiki
Brunswick, OH, October 21, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Today Kurtis M. Kiesel official transferred ownership of Geddon.org to Ohio Belegarth, announced Ohio Belegarth Board of Directors.
Geddon.org is a website based on wiki technology were anyone can publicly enter and change encyclopedia type entries. It’s project statement “The Belegarth wiki is a free encyclopedia that anyone can edit, and the intention is to house as much knowledge that is available about the colorful social creations, customs, & history of our society and its people,” which shares a similar goal to Ohio Belegarth’s mission statement. “...Enables the participants to pursue their own dreams, developing their interests and to learn the many facets and skills of medieval life... Educate the public about safe ways to engage in western martial arts and sports activities.”
Kurtis M. Kiesel who is also the management director of Ohio Belegarth is quoted as saying, “The geddon.org project shares so many of the same goals as Ohio Belegarth, it just makes sense that the administration of the wiki goes to Ohio Belegarth. Future project set to launch from Ohio Belegarth’s webpage will be enhanced from the encyclopedic entries found on Geddon.org. Ohio Belegarth will be able to develop a more organized team of administrators complete with goals to enhance the site with more efficiency than the few people who have been dedicating large amounts of content.”
The competitive martial art of Belegarth is a medieval reenacting sport where participants use padded weaponry to safely portray medieval war. Participants who engage in combat wear medieval clothing, medieval-fantasy style clothing, and real armor while groups of combatants engage each other with full contact safety equipment designed to represent a full host of European and western martial arts weapons. Ohio Belegarth is the local district organization for Belegarth in the state of Ohio, It's non-profit mission is centered around presenting opportunities to the public, education, and administer safe medieval combat to the public.
