Planting Peace, a nonprofit organization founded in 2004 by Aaron Jackson and John Dieubon, operates four orphanages in Haiti. "Fortunately all of the children survived the earthquake," says Jackson, "however, two of the four homes sustained damage and the stability of these structures is questionable. We are currently trying to locate and secure shelter for families and children made homeless and/or parentless by this tragic event."
Author Jenna D. Barry says, "I read an article about Aaron Jackson a couple of years ago that explained how -- when faced with financial difficulties-- he chose to give up his apartment and live in a homeless shelter so he could continue to run his orphanage in Haiti. By providing a safe home for the children, he protects them from being sold into the sex trade industry. Aaron has a heart of gold, and the world is a much brighter place because of him."
