Edward Huff, Multimedia Director for VIBCO Vibrators, Has Photograph Selected for Inclusion in Prestigious Underground Construction Association Calendar
Edward Huff’s photo at the Eastside Access Project has been selected to be in the Underground Construction Association Calendar. Ed is the multimedia director at Vibco and is really enjoying what he does.
Wyoming, RI, January 23, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Edward M. Huff has a lot of fun working at VIBCO Vibrators, particularly when he gets to go out in the field and photograph a jobsite where VIBCO vibrators are in use. One of those photos appears in the prestigious Underground Construction Association 2010 Calendar.
"I'm thrilled that my photograph was selected for the UCA calendar," says Huff. "In my role at VIBCO Vibrators, I have the unique opportunity to go places and see things that the average photographer doesn't get to see. I've been 30 floors up on a construction site, I've been down in the bottom of a pit, I've been hanging off the back of a plow truck… and for this photo, I was about 120 feet underground in a tunnel. I love that I get to go places where our products help get the real work done."
About The Photograph
The image was shot at the Eastside Access Project, which will connect the Long Island Rail Road's (LIRR) Main and Port Washington lines in Queens to a new LIRR terminal beneath Grand Central Terminal, in Manhattan. Multiple exposures were taken on a tripod with a Nikon D300s and a Nikon 10.5 mm lense at F4. Exposures were 1/10 sec with an ISO of 200. The exposures were blended and stitched together to make a single extreme wide angle image.
About The Calendar
The 2010 UCA Calendar is a publication of the Underground Construction Association of SME (Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration). More than 200 photos were submitted for consideration. The photos included tunnels and underground construction from around the world. A committee of three, led by Brenda Bohlke, Underground Construction Association of SME Past Chair, selected the photos. The final photos selected for inclusion highlight many of the various processes from underground construction. The calendars were distributed to 800 members of the Underground Construction Association of SME. Calendars are also available for $12.00 on the UCA website (www.uca.smenet.org).
