Humanity First Medical Team Lead Returns to the US from Haiti
Humanity First First Responder Returns from Haiti for assessment briefing
Baltimore, MD, January 23, 2010 --(PR.com)-- After serving hundreds of patients for more than a week in Haiti, Dr. Rafi Malik, Humanity First Disaster Relief Medical Team Lead is returning to the US. On Saturday, January 23, Dr. Malik will be arriving at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Dulles Airport, at 10:30 PM EST.
Reports indicate almost 3 million people were affected by the catastrophic 7.0 magnitude earthquake, countless are still trapped under large debris from collapsed bridges and buildings. Humanity First Disaster Relief Responders quickly took action when they noticed physicians were in desperate need of assistance. Humanity First took the initiative to setup a trauma center and a post-hospital clinic to further systemize the situation.
To continue ongoing medical camp and relief operations, four doctors including two renowned Neurosurgeons, Dr. Osama El-Mefty and Dr. Agha Shahid Khan have departed for Haiti Friday, January 22nd from Baltimore International Airport. The Humanity First, USA team will join the team members from Humanity First Canada which includes 6 doctors and from Humanity First UK team of 3 physicians all arriving at the same time. Currently Humanity First has established a logistics center in Santa Domingo and the Dominican Republic. Humanity First command centers are located in Canada, USA and UK with hundreds of volunteers working hard around the clock to support the relief work in Haiti.
