Chaos, Comedy and Commitment Abound in this Contemporary Venezuelan “Duck Soup” Romantic Satire
Richmond, VA, October 23, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Blue Margarita is a compilation of the romance and comedy of a gringo in love with a Venezuelan beauty amidst the “Marx Brothers” revolution as directed by the country’s dumpy dictator: Hugo Chavez.
Will Russell is a new writer that used his recent experiences in the Venezuelan nether regions to write a novel: Blue Margarita. Blue Margarita encompasses the author’s first encounter with his now wife from Venezuela and his subsequent travels to and from that South American paradox.
It all began when the divorced Russell decided to try his luck via an internet matchmaker service. The end result was his journey to Latin America to meet the woman of his dreams and the subsequent entanglement in the Venezuelan chavista cesspool. Opposites culturally and politically, yet committed soul mates; the two find their way through the miasma of corruption and red tape to form an unbreakable union.
The book is also an insight into Venezuelan culture and what is happening to one of America’s chief oil suppliers. Venezuela has been virtually transformed into a personal fiefdom by its obscene president who sees himself as the successor to Simon Bolivar and believes he is descended from the Aztec emperor Montezuma. When not having messianic visions about being the ruler of the Americas and crushing free speech, protests and in general all forms of dissent, Chavez promotes his own grotesque variety show “Alo Presidente” in which he is the sole entertainment. So “move over” Groucho you have been supplanted by a loco Latin copy.
The author and his wife now reside in Virginia, far from the events plaguing her beloved Venezuela. Russell felt compelled to write and share his adventure with enthusiasm and humor. Blue Margarita is both entertaining and informative and provides a micro view of the events in Venezuela and its society that are widely unknown to most Americans.
