The Boardwalk is designed to extend one mile along the Atlantic shore in sunny Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and will feature Shade Systems colorful canopies located at strategic junctures to provide visitors a welcome respite from the hot sun.
The consulting landscape architects, The Landart Company, located right in Myrtle Beach, together with City of Myrtle Beach staff, specified Shade Systems Sail products for this high-profile project due to their stringent quality standards, design capabilities, and experience with similar demanding projects. For the benefit of its visitors and residents, The City of Myrtle Beach is spending the sum of well over $1 million for the shade portion of the Boardwalk project.
Construction is scheduled to begin next month, and the new Boardwalk with its beautiful Sail canopies is expected to open for the 2010 summer season.
