Whispering Pair Caught by Sonitrol Pacific Audio
Portland, OR, January 27, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Portland police arrested two suspected burglars of a Portland restaurant January 24 after a Sonitrol Pacific operator heard their movement and whispering through audio security sensors.
At 4:21 a.m., Operator Michael Young received a signal from an impact-activated audio sensor at Genoa Restaurant in SE Portland. He heard two loud bangs followed by sounds of breakage and “frantic” movement inside the restaurant, and called police.
Young continued to monitor activity while officers were en route. He heard someone rifling through papers and a man whisper, “it says the alarm is on and it’s blinking.” Just then, Young heard police arrive and announce themselves.
The suspects attempted to escape, but a police dog tracked down one hiding inside the restaurant. A second suspect was caught a short time later.
