The CIO Healthcare Summit Announces CIO Keynote Presentations and Latest Agenda Details

The keynotes presentations will be presented in front of the audience of attending CIOs, IT leaders and solution providers at the May 9-12, 2010 CIO Healthcare Summit. Dr. Charles Kennedy is the Vice President of Health Information Technology for Wellpoint Inc., and is responsible for building technical solutions which leverage health plan data sets are applied in clinical settings. Dr. Kennedy has led Wellpoint’s initiatives to improve patient care through technology in a variety of ways including strategic acquisitions and investments. Dr. Kennedy has served as a thought-leader on Federal, State and private industry initiatives including being a founding commissioner on the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology. At the CIO Healthcare Summit, Dr. Kennedy will present the Welcome Dinner Gala CIO Keynote Speech, "The HITECH Act: Creating Lasting Value from the $40 billion Federal Stimulus Investment,” on Sunday, May 9th, 2010.
Dr. Ferdinand Velasco is the Chief Medical Information Officer of Texas Health Resources. He is the physician champion for the organization’s medical informatics initiatives and has responsibility over the physician engagement and clinical decision support groups within IT Solutions. Prior to joining THR, Dr. Velasco was Assistant Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. Dr. Velasco will present the CIO keynote presentation, “Meaningful Use of Health IT: a CMIO’s Guide for CIOs”, on Monday, May 10th, 2010.
