DEACOM Food ERP Software to Spice Up Production for Condiment Processor
Wayne, PA, January 30, 2010 --(PR.com)-- In order to integrate all business processes of the world's largest horseradish grower and processor in a single food ERP software system, Silver Spring Foods, Inc. has licensed the DEACOM Integrated Accounting and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Software System. Silver Spring Foods will use the DEACOM ERP System to manage its recipe management, quality control/quality assurance, accounting, lot tracking/inventory control, purchasing, sales order entry, and production processes.
Family owned and operated for 80 years, Eau Claire, WI-based Silver Spring Foods produces fresh horseradish and horseradish sauces for the retail, food service, private label, and industrial markets. The company also makes a variety of specialty mustards, for which it has recently been named one of America's fastest growing brands.
Silver Spring Foods will be replacing several software systems that were used to handle its business. As the systems used separate databases and were not innately developed for the food manufacturing industry, processes such as Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and multi-level Bill of Material (BOM) lot tracking required customization support from multiple vendors. Reporting also involved a great deal of customization, to the point that it became a full-time activity.
"Silver Spring Foods prides itself on providing exceptional service and quality products," says Noah Wallace, IT Director. "Because of this, we did not want software customization efforts to affect our ability to carry out our mission."
The selection of DEACOM ERP Software was based largely on its true configurability design: the system can be tailored to the needs of a company without making changes to the base programming code. This aspect of DEACOM allows the software to adjust with companies like Silver Spring Foods as their business requirements evolve over time.
Configurability is an example of Deacom's specialization in offering a simple, end-to-end ERP solution for food manufacturers with complex business process issues. The DEACOM System is sold, implemented, and supported directly without the use of third-party resellers or consultants, so manufacturers have only one vendor to communicate with for ERP software-related issues.
"DEACOM was able to provide the functionality and links to our Manufacturing Execution System (MES) that we needed, essentially ‘out of the box,' in one system," explains Wallace. "It is reassuring to know that users won't need to consult the IT department to complete a task, and likewise, the IT department won't need to be concerned with the time and expense of maintaining multiple, modular-based systems."
Silver Spring Foods is scheduled to go live on the DEACOM System in August of 2010.
