Harland Simon’s Recent Upgrades
A number of Lee Enterprise facilities have decided to upgrade to the latest version of the Harland Simon Press Control System and Prima Management System.
Chicago, IL, January 31, 2010 --(PR.com)-- These include the Northwest Indiana Times, Munster, IN, Quad City Times, Davenport, IA and North County Times, Escondido, CA. Quad City and Northwest Indiana Times completed the upgrades during December and the North County Times will be completed in early February.
The main motivation behind the upgrade was to future proof the production critical systems by moving away from the Windows 2000 platform, which Microsoft stopped supporting a number of years ago. The upgrade also provided the latest generation of Harland Simons touch screen operator controls, designed to maximize operator efficiency by minimizing key strokes. Improved intelligent diagnostics and redesigned background communications to further enhance the reliability and speed of data exchange. Finally, all computer hardware was replaced to improve performance and extended OEM warranties.
Charlie Brackley, Sales Manager for Harland Simon, commented, “The completed projects went ahead with no interruptions to production and ahead of schedule; allowing the engineers to leave site early.”
