Nude Sunbathing and Skinny-dipping Acceptance

25% of Americans have skinny-dipped in mixed company and Living Waters Spa in Desert Hot Springs is helping people learn that it is ok to try.

Desert Hot Springs, CA, October 25, 2006 --(PR.com)-- According to a new survey 54% of Americans believe that state and local governments should set aside secluded areas of public land for people who enjoy nude sunbathing. This would be just like state and local governments do now for now for special types of recreation such as snowmobiling, surfing and hunting.

This new poll commissioned by the Naturist Education Foundation (NEF) tests the responses of Americans to questions about nudity. This independent survey was conducted for NEF by the prestigious polling firm of Roper Public Affairs. The survey also revealed that 1 out of 4 American adults have gone “skinny dipping.”

Until there is broader acceptance of nude sunbathing in public places there is a unique boutique spa in Desert Hot Springs California that is helping Americans experience safe nude sunbathing. Living Waters Spa is that unique spa in America where people from all walks of life can soak in pure, odorless mineral water – sans bathing suits.

Owners Jeff and Judy Bowman explain: “Living Waters Spa was created to provide our American culture with a uniquely European experience, soaking in hot mineral spring water -- au naturel.” They opened their spa just 3 short years ago and in that time they have become top-rated on the popular TripAdvisor.com travel review website. “Guests from all over the US and Europe come to Living Waters Spa to try the ol’ fashion skinny-dipping in our therapeutic mineral water. We enjoy helping our society learn that being nude isn’t lewd and that the ‘girls gone wild’ aspect of our culture has distorted simple nudity,” says Judy, who herself is a breast cancer survivor. “We have created a private, safe, relaxing, and elite environment where people can vacation in a clothes free / clothing optional context.” She continues, “We are a spa where people who are curious about trying a nude vacation can do so without the fear of breaking the law or voyeurs with cameras hiding in the bushes.”

According to the owners, people who go to their spa would not classify themselves as nudists or naturists. “Nudist,” says Jeff, “is a term that is almost instantly followed by the word ‘colony’ and is often the brunt of jokes. While we have nudists who come to Living Waters Spa, the vast majority of our guests are just typical Americans who do not use any label to define themselves.”
