Soldier Saved in Battle with Help from a Shield of Faith
Santa Ana, CA, October 25, 2006 --(PR.com)-- The bullet that hit Jacob Dyer should have taken his life. What happened instead was nothing short of a miracle.
Dyer is the survivor of a recent sniper attack. The 24-year old U.S. Army sergeant is currently serving his second tour in the rebuilding of Iraq. During a mission in Al-Asad, about 100 miles west of Baghdad, Dyer’s unit was attacked by an insurgent sniper carrying a special AK-74. The rifle fires a smaller bullet round at a higher power than an AK-47 and uses a silencer to mask its blast.
“I never heard the round being fired, just the crack of it breaking through the air and hitting me,” recounts Dyer. “It took me a split second to figure out what had just happened.”
The bullet was absorbed by Dyer’s protective vest, but broke through and stopped after hitting his necklace. Dyer was wearing the Shield of Faith pendant created by Bob Siemon Designs and inscribed with the verse from Joshua 1:9 that reads, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
