Micralyne One of Alberta’s Top 50 Employers Four Times Running
For the fourth year in a row Micralyne Inc., a world-leading independent MEMS technology company, has been named one of “Alberta’s Top 50 Employers” by Mediacorp Canada.
Edmonton, Canada, February 05, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Edmonton-based developer and manufacturer of miniscule Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) was recognized for its warm, friendly working environment and numerous employee perks, such as:
- RSP contribution matching
- Extensive training, including professional certifications
- Profit-sharing plans
- Flexible hours
- Participation in Edmonton’s Corporate Challenge
- Frequent contests and prize giveaways
One of the most interesting things about Micralyne is the way the company combines health and wellness with fun to help employees find balance. Each winter, employees build an outdoor hockey rink. In summer, a large field in the back is used to play soccer. Many employees bike to work and shower and lockup facilities are available.
“I am particularly proud that through the past year we have seen very few people voluntarily leave Micralyne, and I’m constantly hearing people chat about how they can help the company succeed,” said Scott Rice, Micralyne’s human resources manager.
“I think the award should really be for Alberta’s Top Employees,” said Derek Hudson, CEO. “Our people make Micralyne a great place to work. In a challenging economic time our staff members have shown an incredible level of creativity, commitment, and professionalism. We try, but I don’t think we can ever do enough to recognize all the amazing contributions they make.”
Combining work and play is just one way Micralyne supports employees. The company has a number of plans designed to foster employee development, including:
- Opportunities for advancement
- Paid training, from one-day courses to comprehensive certificate programs
- An open-door policy giving all employees access to management and executive team members
- A multicultural, inclusive team environment
- An idea-sharing forum that empowers employees to improve the way Micralyne works
