Physician Wellbeing Committees Move to Implement Disruptive Physician Standards
On February 27, 2010, George Anderson, Executive Director of Anderson & Anderson, Trusted Name in Anger Management, will host the company’s first “Disruptive Physician” preparedness seminar for physicians who refer colleagues at St. Francis Medical Center.
Los Angeles, CA, February 08, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Anderson & Anderson announced that it will begin providing “Disruptive Physician” Programs for Physician Wellbeing Committee Members, Medical Board Directors, Physicians, and medical staff. The purpose of these seminars is to help medical personnel gain a better understanding of how such programs work and how to present proposals from such programs to their physician wellbeing committees or medical staff. George Anderson, Executive Director of Anderson & Anderson, was contacted by St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, California. After receiving a detailed outline and proposal from Mr. Anderson, St. Francis agreed to send thirty of its physicians to attend the first seminar. This move by St. Francis hospital, along with many hospitals across the nation that have referred physicians to the Anderson & Anderson Executive Coaching/Anger Management program for “Disruptive Physicians”, demonstrates that hospitals understand the important role such programs play in improving workplace morale in the medical environment and reducing stress brought on by disruptive behavior.
The seminar has quite a few objectives and goals. It will introduce the Anderson & Anderson Executive Coaching/Anger Management for “disruptive physicians”. It will demonstrate the value of non-psychiatric assessments for anger management. It will demonstrate the benefits of anger management for civility. It will identify areas of strength or weakness in recognizing and managing Communication, Anger, Stress, and Emotional Intelligence (or Empathy). It will introduce techniques for skill enhancement in Communication (Assertive), Anger management, Stress Management, and Empathy/Emotional Intelligence. It will introduce the client workbooks with content that includes skill enhancement exercises, anger and stress logs, and quizzes designed to assess skill development in the above content areas.
Participants who are motivated will gain an understanding of what is included in the major programs for “disruptive physicians”. They will learn how to refer mandated physicians to intervention programs for “disruptive behavior”. They will learn the importance of “aftercare”. They will learn about the relationship between intervention and Risk Management.
Each participant will be assigned a client workbook, “The Practice of Control”, which is one of the two books used in the Anderson & Anderson model of Coaching for Physicians. Each participant will be given an assessment (MAP) designed to determine the client’s level of functioning in recognizing and managing Communication skills, Anger, Stress, and Empathy (Emotional Intelligence). A fifth category is “Motivation to Change”. A brief summary of the assessment will be given. The presentation section of the seminar will be forty five minutes in length and will include a Question and Answer section.
