WIN Pakistan is Out to Change the Perception of Pakistan
WIN Pakistan Offers Positive Message of Hope and Encouragement, Dispels Misperceptions About Pakistani Culture
San Jose, CA, February 09, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Saman Hasnain, 2008 Mrs. Pakistan World, wants to change the world’s perception of Pakistan.
“Pakistan is not a terrorist state,” says Hasnain, president of WIN Pakistan (Women In Need). “Our country is fighting the war on terrorism and paying the price with the loss of innocent lives and destruction of our beautiful cities in the process.”
Hasnain is making it her life’s ambition to communicate and correct misperceptions about her country and the role of Pakistani women in today’s society. WIN Pakistan, in conjunction with WIN International, is committed to educating, inspiring and empowering women in all walks of life, especially those women tormented by the pain of abuse or in need of purpose within their lives.
“The role of Pakistani women around the world has been misrepresented by misinformation and images that do not tell the entire story of women’s rights and development in Pakistan,” explains Hasnain. “The world should realize that Pakistani women are not confined to the four walls of their homes, nor are they treated as second-class citizens. Women in Pakistan are making their marks as doctors, lawyers, politicians, pilots, members of the armed forces and more. I’m dedicated to correct those misperceptions by advocating the idea when you heal a woman, you heal a family. When you heal a family, you heal a nation.”
Hasnain, the mother of two boys and originally from Lahore, Pakistan, assisted in the building of a school for 1,000 children in Pakistan, and is a strong supporter of Development in Literacy (DIL). Hasnain also works to support many other organizations in the U.S. and Pakistan on causes related to Pakistan. Besides her work with WIN, Hasnain is also a poet and producer of several movies that underscore the plight for equal rights for Pakistani women, as well as stories about other underserved people of Pakistan. Hasnain’s movie credits include: “51%” in collaboration with Director Sean Ali of Sean Productions, is a movie on women’s rights and is the first time a movie on this subject will be released worldwide in 2010; “Crossing Borderlines,” the story about Afghan refugees in Pakistan; and “Blind with Vision,” about hardworking blind people of Pakistan.
Hasnain and Ali also have teamed up to create “S&S Films Worldwide.” S&S will be dedicated to making movies that explore the issues facing Pakistanis today, as well as work to change misperceptions and the different organizations working towards affecting change. S&S has four movies ready to be released in 2010.
The second largest international pageant, “Mrs. U.S. Globe,” and all of its contestants, has joined forces with WIN Pakistan to support the efforts for the upcoming movie “51%” through a campaign called “51 cents.” “51 cents” will help aid and support the emotional healing and provide funds for women in Pakistan and around the world.
Board members of WIN Pakistan include: Natasha Paracha, 2008 Miss Pakistan World, Pakistani singing sensation Hadiqa Kiani, Samar Gardezi -Social worker/writer, Azra Siddiqui – Socialite, Fashion Designerr Hassan Sheheryar and Sean Ali - Movie Director/Singer.
