John D. Beck and Ron Hart met at Syracuse University in the early 1990s. John was a freshman who thought Hart threw cool parties, and Ron was a senior who thought John was a freshman who kept showing up to parties he wasn't invited to.
Upon graduating, the two took widely differing paths on their way to becoming sitcoms writers. John served on the production staffs of several network sitcoms, while Ron served as a maid, house sitter and cab driver to gain his Kerouac experience while waiting for his giant overall deal to come along. It didn't, so he started writing specs with John.
Together, Ron and John have served on the writing staff of "According to Jim" for the last seven years, working their way up to the level of "Executive Producer." Before that, Ron and John worked as writer/producers on "The Hughleys," as well as selling a variety of freelance episodes of shows on such networks as MTV, Nickelodeon, and Fox Family Channel. In addition to their work on "According to Jim," Ron and John also have written books, been written about in books, and continue to develop their own material, having had pilot deals with ABC, CBS, FOX, TVLand, Touchstone Television and Sony Television.
During this “In Discussion” program John Beck and Ron Hart offer their humorous and at times hilarious flavor of comedic experience with outtakes from the recent hit series “According to Jim.” Randall Libero Producer for the “In Discussion” programming and co-host at Visionary Entertainment also joins the high spirited program with David Gibbons.
