ZoumUSA Releases the Zoum Club Optimist
Boca Raton, FL, February 12, 2010 --(PR.com)-- ZoumUSA of Boca Raton FL has released the Zoum Club Optimist sailboat designed to meet the needs of the junior sailing market, sailing centers, community programs and yacht clubs.
”The Zoum Club was designed much the way we designed the Zoum Racer. We took our time and built a better boat and offer it for less money. Anybody can build a less expensive boat with less quality. The challenge is to build a better boat targeted at a lower price point. We’ve achieved that with the Zoum Club” said ZoumUSA’s co-founder Doug Drescher.
The Zoum Club is made with the same superior materials used in the National Champion Zoum Racer including: Swedish foam, Italian stitched cloth, American resin & gelcoats, and English adhesive. The cloth is hand laid +/- 45 degree stitched non-woven biaxial fiberglass, and the adhesive is military grade performance acrylate polymer chain to eliminate possibility of bond failure. The boat is fitted with a suite of components usually reserved for the most expensive racing boats that seems like overkill on a club boat.
“It is only overkill if it is overpriced. If you can get into a Zoum Club for the same price as an ex-charter boat you’d be well advised to explore the value it offers", said Drescher.
"There are some unique objectives for the Zoum Club. First, it needed to yield a program less down-time. We accomplish this by using the most durable materials that IODA class rules allow. Second, any repairs would need to be inexpensive. The boat is white for ease of repair but also relies on the superior materials used on the National Champion Zoum Racer. Many junior sailing programs understand all to well that broken mast steps, sheered screws, broken fiberglass foils, and structural bonds that do not hold consumes time and money. We’ve stepped up to the plate with better hardware, better bonding agents, better glass, and thicker screws. Our boats are simply the best club boat available.” Added Drescher.
Sold exclusively by ZoumUSA, LLC of Boca Raton, Florida, the Zoum Club is equipped with hi-tech components and is designed for optimum performance within the limits set by the IODA for these top of the line dinghies. It is available for delivery in limited numbers.
