Cass Business School Students Addressed by Lord Mayor of the City of London in Dubai

London, United Kingdom, February 12, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Lord Mayor of the City of London, Alderman Nick Anstee, spoke to Cass Business School students and alumni at a special event in Dubai yesterday. This event was organised in partnership with the British Business Group (BBG) and more than 200 senior figures from London and the GCC business and finance sectors were present.

As head of the City of London Corporation, which provides business and local government services to the City – one of the world’s leading financial centres - the Lord Mayor of London's principal role today is ambassador for all UK-based financial and professional services. It is an elected role for one year and the position is unpaid and apolitical. The Lord Mayor is also Chancellor of City University, the parent organisation of Cass Business School.

The Lord Mayor said: “I enjoyed speaking to students and alumni of Cass Business School and the British Business Group in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. We regard members of both the BGG and Cass as ambassadors for the City, no matter where your lives and careers take you, your success reflects well on us. In 2007, Cass launched a Dubai-based Executive MBA (EMBA) programme, in association with the Dubai International Financial Centre, which has been growing in popularity ever since. It is the world’s first EMBA programme offering specialist streams in Islamic Finance and Energy. Last September the third and largest cohort began their studies on the Cass programme with 61 students representing 23 countries.

The Cass commitment to Dubai has also been enhanced by last year’s Dubai Symposium which gave students from London the opportunity to learn about the challenges and benefits of doing business in the region and featured a keynote speech from easyJet founder, Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou. Cass also maintains a representative office in Dubai which supports Cass students and alumni and develops corporate links in the region.
