Solar Innovations, Inc. Completes Several Sports Venue Folding Glass Wall Projects Across the Country

Solar Innovations® folding glass wall systems are commonly incorporated into retail, restaurant, and hospitality projects, creating flexible commercial space. The recent completion of several projects in athletic arenas has confirmed the versatility of these products, allowing them to become an aesthetic and functional enhancement for numerous sports venues throughout the United States.

At Coppin State University in Baltimore, Maryland, a series of four folding glass wall units were installed above the bleachers of the indoor sports arena to provide fans with the ability to be part of the basketball or volleyball games from the luxury boxes constructed in the arena. Two of these units are 16′ long, while the remaining two are 8′ in length, with each of the units measuring 5′4″ in height. Each are constructed of Solar Innovations’ Clear Anodized frame. As the units are interior, 1/4″ clear tempered glass has been incorporated into the folding glass walls.

The University of Texas is utilizing a 17′ long, six-panel, in-fold, split wall system in the north end zone of their stadium. This unit is 11′ high, providing an enhanced architectural feature at the north end zone entrance of the stadium. The unit incorporates 1″ grey tempered insulated glass units and Solar’s Clear Anodized frame finish.

The Union Field in Chester, Pennsylvania, is in the process of having 56 independent custom folding glass wall units with integrated custom sliding glass doors and commercial doors designed, manufactured, and installed. Each of the folding glass wall units measures 10′ wide by 8′6″ high and is constructed of Solar Innovations’ Clear Anodized frame finish and 1″ clear tempered insulated glass units. Because of the project’s complexity and architectural needs, several folding glass wall and sliding glass door configurations are being utilized. Upon completion, these units will be integrated into each of the luxury boxes, including the owner’s box.

Nearly limitless configuration options are available for all folding glass wall applications, including glazing choice and sill options. Solar Innovations® offers seven standard colors, two anodized colors, and custom color match options, as well as wood and metal veneer finishes.

Solar Innovations’ folding glass walls are Florida product approved for both infold and outfold configurations and are Miami Dade certified. A 3’x 10’ folding glass wall panel is pending Florida product approval, making it the largest size folding glass wall panel approved to date.
