Riverside, CA, February 12, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Annual Playday for Women, benefiting the American Red Cross of Riverside County, and presented by Inland Empire Magazine, is honored to announce that the keynote speaker of this year’s event is Marcia Wallace; Riverside will be graced with the presence of this Emmy award winning television actress, stage performer, comedienne and motivational speaker. Playday for Women will be held on Friday, April 30, 2010 at the Riverside Marriott and BioKorium Salon & Day Spa from 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Advance tickets are $60 and include breakfast, shopping vendor exhibits, viewing of demonstrations and speakers, including keynote speaker, 30-minute pampering service, lunch, goodie bags, raffles and more. Marcia crosses all generations and can speak to women of all ages based on weathering her own stormy life through laughter and tears. She is the perfect fit for Playday. Behind the quick-witted, colorful personas she has created for television, animation and stage, she is a mother, a 25-year breast cancer survivor, a high-profile advocate for breast cancer awareness and a writer. Her book, “Don’t Look Back, We’re Not Going That Way!” is the title of her hilarious and moving story that she will bring to Playday for Women. (The longer subtitle to her speech is: “How I Overcame a Rocky Childhood, a Nervous Breakdown, Breast Cancer, Widowhood, Fat, Fire & Menopausal Motherhood And Still Managed To Count My Lucky Chickens.”) Marcia will also be signing books at the event.

More About Marcia Wallace:
Marcia played the quick-witted receptionist known as Carol Kester on The Bob Newhart Show (which received the TV Land Icon Award in 2007). She reprised that role when she guest starred as Murphy Brown’s 66th secretary, for which she received an Emmy nomination. She reunited with Murphy as a member of her breast cancer support group, with her old boss on George and Leo and had recurring roles in Seventh Heaven, Full House and Charles In Charge. A new generation of television viewers came to know Marcia in the 1990s as the voice of Edna Krabappel, Bart’s fourth grade teacher, on the animated series The Simpsons, in which she won an Emmy for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance.

Marcia’s voice has also been heard on animated series, films and commercials. She recently made her soap opera debut for several weeks as bumbling kidnapper, Annie Wilkes on “The Young and the Restless.” Back on the boards this summer, she played Mother Superior in Nunsense II and Faye in The Sugar Bean Sisters before originating the role of Leona in the new play Rest, In Pieces.

She toured in The Vagina Monologues and with Jo Anne Worley as Olive Madison in the female Odd Couple. Other stage credits include Same Time Next Year, Twigs, It Had To Be You, Supporting Cast, Prisoner of Second Avenue, Plaza Suite, Gypsy, Promises Promises, Born Yesterday, all three roles in Last Of The Red Hot Lovers, the geriatric version of You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, Ouiser in Steel Magnolias and a ten city tour of The Vagina Monologues.

Marcia’s first Los Angeles stage appearance was her starring role in An Almost Perfect Person, which she also produced. Prior to that, New York stage credits include Calling In Crazy and The Fourth Wall, the improvisational comedy group which ran off Broadway for a year. She has studied with Uta Hagen, Tony award-winning actress and coach, and David Craig. In 2007, she won the Gilda Radner Courage Award from Roswell Park Cancer Institute for helping educate about the importance of early detection and inspiring others through her 22 years as a breast cancer survivor. In 2009, she was elected to the national board of the Screen Actors Guild.
