Savant Books and Publications Announces Release of Larry Rodness' Novel "Today I Am A Man"
Savant Books and Publications LLC, Honolulu, Hawaii, publishers of significant books and enduring media for the 21st century, is pleased to announce the release of Larry Rodness' newest book, "Today I Am A Man."
Honolulu, HI, February 12, 2010 --(PR.com)-- A contemporary coming-of-age novel, "Today I Am A Man" is a poignant look at the trials and tribulations of adolescence through the eyes of an adult who must come to grips with similar issues in his own children's lives. A story of contrasts in intentions, deeds and consequences, "Today I Am A Man" speaks directly to readers seeking to better understand and appreciate that all-important journey from childhood to adulthood.
Rodness, born in Toronto, Canada, moved to California with his family in the early sixties. Much of the material for “Today I Am A Man” comes from the three years he lived there, after which, he and his family returned to Canada.
"As a singer, actor and screenwriter, I have been in front of audiences since I was 13 years old," says Mr. Rodness, "but now I stand in front of you, an author of a novel that took me years to write. I am both proud and excited to bring you a story I believe will not only have you turning pages to the end, but will ultimately provoke you into asking what you would do under the same circumstances."
Your child comes home from school one day and tells you he’s been repeatedly beaten up by a bully. Would you go to the school to complain? Would you go to the parents of the bully? Would you go to the police? Or, after getting no results, would you take matters into your own hands?
In this intensely arresting novel, Steven Goldman handles it the only way he knows how and gets arrested for his efforts. The chain of events leading up to his arrest, however, begins over 35 years ago, when, at 12 years of age, he moves with his family from a quiet neighborhood in Toronto, to the raw heat of Los Angeles during the tumultuous 60’s. Steven tries to assimilate into the culture while he prepares for his Bar Mitzvah, the ceremony that signifies his passage from boyhood into manhood and the responsibilities that entail. Some lessons are learned, some are not, those that are not inevitably come back to haunt.
"Today I Am A Man" by Larry Rodness - 282 pages - 8.25" x 5." Color softcover. ISBN 978-0984-117529. Suggested retail price $16.95. Released in February 2010 by Savant Books and Publications, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA.
