New Rules at the Door for PE Firms Buying Failed Banks at GoldenNetworking.com's Distressed Investing Leaders Forum 2010
Vipal Monga, Senior Writer for The Deal, Reports about the New Rules at the Door for PE firms; he will Participate at GoldenNetworking.com's Distressed Investing Leaders Forum 2010, on February 26th, Forum Featuring 20+ Successful Distressed Investing Practitioners.
New York, NY, February 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Federal Reserve finally seems to be getting comfortable with allowing private investors into banking. At least, that's the impression given to financial dealmakers following the acquisition by Bond Street Holdings LLC on Jan. 21 of Miami's Premier American Bank NA, reports Vipal Monga, Senior Writer for The Deal LLC. Mr. Monga will participate at GoldenNetworking.com's Distressed Investing Leaders Forum 2010, February 26th, in New York City. This Leaders Forum will include an industry-wide networking reception that will attract more than 200 members of the Distressed Investing community in the country, including executives, professionals and entrepreneurs in hedge funds, private equity firms, financial sponsors, investment banks, limited and general partnerships, lenders, accounting and law firms, and portfolio companies.
Mr. Monga continues: "Blind pools are funds raised by groups of investors and operated by management teams with the goal of acquiring banks, generally through auctions led by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Bond Street raised $370 million early in the fall through a Deutsche Bank AG-led private placement. In October, it received a shelf charter, which granted it preliminary approval for a national bank charter that remains inactive, or "on the shelf," until the pool identifies failed bank assets it wants to bid on. One source says the Fed has now decided that it is willing to allow groups of private investors to bid on banks as long as each respects the 24.9% threshold and is able to structure the transaction so that more than 50% of the bank's board is not affiliated with the investors."
