Celebrate Black History Month with Barack Obama in Pictures

To honor our first African American President and celebrate President’s Day, “Celebrating Barack Obama in Pictures" an interactive e-book for kids that can be downloaded to computer was released today.

Doylestown, PA, February 15, 2010 --(PR.com)-- In honor of our first African American President and to celebrate President’s Day, Still Motion Media, creator of MobiStories, digital books for children, released “Celebrating Barack Obama in Pictures,” an interactive e-book application that could be downloaded to computer from the company’s website, http://stillmotionmedia.com/ages-6-10/celebrating-barack-obama.

The photo essay book, licensed from Enslow Publishers, includes photos from when Barack was a child through his rise to Senator and ultimately to the President of the United States. As in all MobiStories, the book is narrated with sound effects; however, instead of including original music, the company inserted audio clips of the President taken from the campaign trail to his inaugural commencement. This book is great to use at home to learn about our 44th President or to engage students in the classroom.

What distinguishes this book from a traditional book is: The book is narrated and written in three languages, English, Spanish and Chinese. Now, within each page the user may choose to hear any of the languages and see any of the translated texts. “Hearing the Spanish and seeing the English text, or vice versa, is something many language educators have requested,” commented Rick Toone, Creative Director of Still Motion Media. “Furthermore, by adding multiple languages, more children will be able to enjoy this MobiStory,” he continued

An additional feature that users will experience is the ability to click on “Fun Fact” balloons. Each balloon, when clicked, offers some additional insight into the President such as his shoe size, his nickname in High School and his favorite food (and least favorite condiment). All pictures are chosen by clicking on a camera which brings the picture full screen allowing the child to navigate and enlarge the image.

One of President Obama’s missions is to improve education in our country. This interactive e-book is a step in the direction of how digital publishers are able to incorporate relevant content into an educational and fun way to learn about history. With tools like the Internet, computers, iPods and Kindles, children now have the opportunity to enjoy a good book anytime, anywhere.

The company expects the same book to be released as an iPhone and iTouch application before the end of this month. The functionality will be the same, though a user will tap and swipe functions as opposed to click with a mouse. The next book in the Obama family photo album series features Michelle Obama. That MobiStory, which will include similar features as well as photos of Sasha and Malia, is due out in early spring.
