Stazi's 'Torvill and Dean' Makes Bid for UKs Official Winter Olympic Single

Manchester based Electro band Stazi have announced details of their new Winter Olympics inspired single 'Torvill and Dean.'

Manchester, United Kingdom, February 17, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Did you know that there was no official Great Britain Winter Olympic theme song this year? ( Although you could have counted Ice Ice Baby by Jedward as a late entry.)

This oversight has been somewhat lessened by the fact that Manchester's electro duo Stazi are releasing their paean to perhaps the greatest British Olympians of all time, Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean, in time for this snow-filled sporting extravaganza.

Stazi's third single 'Torvill and Dean' portrays unrequited love at a municipal ice rink in a haunting half-electronic, half-Northern Soul torch song tribute to Ravel's Bolero. The protagonist's love for his skating queen is tempered only by his inability to skate, and his irrational fear of losing a finger on the ice.

If John Shuttleworth had translated Jacques Brel's songs for Jarvis Cocker to sing, instead of Mort Shuman for Scott Walker, then they would have sounded something like Stazi.

Stazi's first single, 'The Drifter' was a single of the week in NME and their second single , 'Love is Lethal' featured vocals from Rowetta, just before her very entertaining appearance on X-Factor.
