Miller Construction Company Building Republic Services' "Green" Facility in West Palm Beach, Florida
West Palm Beach, FL, February 17, 2010 --(PR.com)-- In its second innovative, “green” design/build project for Republic Services, Miller Construction Company has begun work on a 30,000-square-foot office/maintenance facility for the company’s West Palm Beach-based truck fleet.
Scheduled for June 2010 completion, the two-story building for Republic Services of Palm Beach will accommodate three distinct functions: offices, a maintenance shop, plus support space with locker rooms and training areas for more than 100 truck drivers.
Located on a 10-acre site at 7329 7th Place North, West Palm Beach, the building will enhance operational efficiency and allow for local market expansion, according to Republic Services' General Manager David Unversaw.
The project is pre-registered to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the not-for-profit U.S. Green Building Council.
Miller teamed with Republic Services (NYSE: RSG) on a fast-track renovation that created South Florida’s first Silver LEED certified corporate headquarters – an award-winning, technologically-advanced facility completed in 2008 in Sunrise, Fla.
As design/builder and general contractor for the new two-story building in West Palm Beach, Miller Construction Company will create 12,000 square feet of office space and an 18,000-square-foot maintenance shop area. Using a metal building structure, the cost-efficient building will conserve energy while providing an environmentally sound working environment, according to Miller project manager Vince Campo. Among the building’s many “green” features, he said, will be a highly-insulated, reflective roof, a high-efficiency HVAC system and light fixtures that automatically dim during daylight to conserve energy.
The project’s design team includes architect Falkanger Snyder Martineau & Yates and civil engineer Craven Thompson & Associates.
