RE/MAX Northern Illinois Real Estate Network Sees Sales and Transaction Volume Grow in January
Elgin, IL, February 24, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Offices in the RE/MAX Northern Illinois real estate network reported a solid increase in both closed sales volume and closed transactions in January when compared to the same month in 2009.
Closed sales volume rose 15.3 percent to $341 million, while closed transaction sides climbed 19.7 percent to 1,684.5. (Each real estate transaction has two sides, with the buyer on one side and the seller on the other.) Residential sales accounted for 97.7 percent of all transactions closed by RE/MAX agents in January.
The average price of a home sold by the RE/MAX Northern Illinois network in January was $206,675, which is 1.4 percent less than in January 2009 when the average price was $209,524.
“It is great to start the year with what we consider to be very positive numbers, especially in the wake of a 24 percent increase in transaction volume in December and a 60 percent gain in November,” said Jim Merrion, regional director of the RE/MAX Northern Illinois real estate network.
RE/MAX not only recorded an increase in closed sales and transaction volume, but also listed 14 percent more units than a year earlier, and its agents saw a 14.5 percent increase in the total commissions they earned.
“We are reasonably optimistic that the pace of home sales will continue to surpass 2009, but more importantly, we are seeing signs that home prices may be stabilizing in many markets around our region,” said Merrion.
RE/MAX is the leader in northern Illinois real estate sales and has been number one in the metropolitan Chicago real estate market since 1989. In 2009, the RE/MAX network in northern Illinois closed more than $6 billion in sales.
The RE/MAX Northern Illinois network consists of 2,500 associates and 121 individually owned and operated RE/MAX offices that provide residential, relocation and commercial real estate services throughout the northern one-third of Illinois. The network’s Web sites, www.illinoisproperty.com and www.remax.com, are two of the most popular real estate Web sites in northern Illinois and nationwide, respectively, according to Compete.com, Comscore and Hitwise, which are online intelligence services.
