Katherine Staton Elected President of IAWA
Dallas, TX, February 25, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Jackson Walker partner Katherine Staton has been elected to serve a two-year term as President of the International Aviation Womens Association (IAWA) beginning in 2010.
The IAWA is an international organization which promotes the advancement of distinguished executive women in the aviation and aerospace industries. IAWA provides a worldwide network to its members to communicate, promote and work with not only other IAWA members, but aviation industry contacts in every section of the aviation industry. IAWA hosts an annual conference, holds regional receptions, awards scholarships to women in aviation around the world, provides a mentor program to women who do not yet meet IAWA’s membership criteria, publishes a newsletter and provides a members-only website to further the advancement of its members in the aviation industry.
Ms. Staton previously served as President-Elect of IAWA, Vice President of the Annual Conference, and Vice President of Public Relations and Communications. Ms. Staton has over 20 years of experience in civil trial matters and focuses on aviation-related cases. She serves as lead counsel for airlines, fixed-based operators, and insurance companies, managing and trying a variety of cases and disputes not only in Texas, but nationwide. Ms. Staton efficiently oversees litigation, frequently securing summary judgments and resolutions to disputed matters involving negligence, worker’s compensation, subrogation, products liability, food-borne illness, international treaty, and federal regulatory claims for clients across the country. Ms. Staton received her B.B.A. degree in Accounting from St. Mary’s University of San Antonio, graduating cum laude, and her J.D. degree from Southern Methodist University. During her tenure at S.M.U., she was a staff member and Citations Editor of the Journal of Air Law & Commerce.
