China Logistics Club / Africa Logistics Club
With the explosive growth of the Chinese economy and its trade with the rest of the World, it is becoming increasingly important for Chinese and international freight forwarders to have a non-exclusive, affordable forum that provides the resources to expand and compete in this rapidly growing marketplace.
The China Logistics Club (CLC) is a forum specifically set up for the Small & Medium Enterprise (SME) freight forwarders and logistics companies and its aim is to assist its members with forging partnerships and conducting business in China as well as elsewhere.
The China Logistics Club is an independent and private organization based in Hong Kong. It is managed by a team of veteran industry experts with additional expertise in Human Resources, Finance and International Law as well as contacts to a vast international network. The club currently has over 400 members from over 80 countries.
African Logistics club (ALC) is a division of China Logistics Club (CLC) and is a network specifically set up to assist SME Freight Forwarding and Logistics Companies to do more business in Africa as well as elsewhere. ALC members will also become members of the China Logistics Club and have the opportunity to forge relationships with Chinese counterparts to handle the increasing business between Africa and China.
What is Project Logistics?
Project Logistics is defined as the transportation, handling and installation of heavy items which are indivisible, and of weights generally accepted to be in the range of 1 ton to over 1000 tons and of widths/heights of more than 100 meters that are too large to fit into normal containers or onto conventional transporters. These oversized items are transported from one place to another (sometimes across country borders) then lifted or installed into place. Characteristic for heavy lift goods is the absence of standardization which requires an individual transport planning.
To transport heavy lift items special trucks or trailers (flatbeds) are used, which are especially suitable therefore due to their large loading area and capacities. For air transports special large-volume and strong cargo aircraft like the Antonov An-225 are employed which can move up to 250 tons of freight. On inland waters barges are often used. Transports at sea carry out special heavy lift vessels which often possess own cranes for loading and discharging cargo. Transportation of heavy lift items ranks among the most challenging and complex services in global freight forwarding and is handled by specialized companies, at sea, land and air.
