Young Volunteers Grill Election Candidates Over Dinner in Question Dine

London, United Kingdom, February 28, 2010 --(PR.com)-- In the run up to the election the charity WORLDwrite and its News Channel WORLDbytes have developed a unique series of programmes to bring prospective parliamentary candidates closer to the electorate. In Question Dine young volunteers invite election candidates to dinner and give them a grilling.

In this first programme London election candidates Alexander Hilton for Labour, Darren Caplan for the Conservatives and Rhodri Jamieson-Ball for the liberal Democrats are taken to task and asked why, given the state of politics, we should vote at all? The battle ground over starters makes a meal of immigration, intervention is up for question over the main course and the economy provides more than food for thought over pudding.

Director Ceri Dingle said today: “The discussion is riveting; it’s so rare that young people have a chance to test their ideas on, or challenge those who wish to represent them. Dinner parties are perfect for a polite row and as participants relax on this show, they get stuck into more than a great meal. We’re filming the next programme in a local café for what promises to be a great series. We’re delighted that local candidates have agreed to take part.”

The Question Dine idea was originated by WORLDbytes volunteer Ashley Burton-Lynch who with a crew of young people working with the channel wanted something more than the usual sound bite discussion on political positions in the run up to the elections.
