Harbin, China, March 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Will-Excel TESOL Institute announced on Tuesday that it has inked a new deal with Maple Leaf Foreign Language School, located in Handan City, Hebei Province. Maple Leaf Foreign Language School will begin receiving TESOL certified teachers from the Institute this May. Teachers first complete a 160-hour TESOL course in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, the location of Will-Excel TESOL Institute’s training center, before moving on to complete their six-month teaching term.
TESOL stands for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. All teachers in China are required to have attended and successfully completed a TESOL certification course before they are allowed to work.
The Will-Excel TESOL Institute’s sponsorship option allows teachers to pay their TESOL tuition over the course of their teaching term, which span anywhere from six to twelve months, depending on the sponsor school’s contract.
Other TESOL courses require that all tuition be paid up front, before the course begins. Will-Excel TESOL requires only a one-time registration payment of US$200 to reserve the teacher’s place in the program. The remainder of the tuition is collected from the sponsor school. The Institute’s website states that approximately 30 – 50% of the teachers who go through the program are sponsored.
“Only about 5% of schools which apply to become a sponsor school actually pass our screening process and go on to hire our teachers,” said Kyle David, Dean of Studies for Will-Excel TESOL. “We have very high standards for schools as we want to ensure that our graduates work with the best schools in China.”
“MLFLS is happy and excited about the recent partnership between ourselves and Will-Excel TESOL,” said Grant Guymer, Co-owner and Director of Foreign Affairs for Maple Leaf Foreign Language School. “We anticipate that getting ‘classroom ready’ teachers will not only be more time effective for us, but will enable us to focus our attention on our prime goal of teaching students.”
